What is japanese cave geckos?

Japanese cave geckos, also known as Goniurosaurus, are a group of small to medium-sized geckos that are native to Japan. They are known for their unique color patterns and their ability to live in cave environments.

The geckos are typically around 5 to 7 inches in length and have a stout body with large, round, protruding eyes. Their coloration varies but can include shades of brown, gray, black, and orange.

Japanese cave geckos are nocturnal and spend most of their time in caves or crevices. They are carnivorous and feed on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates.

Their reproductive behavior is not well studied, but it is known that they lay eggs and females will defend their nests. In captivity, they can be bred successfully and offspring can be produced from a single mating pair within a year.

Japanese cave geckos are popular in the pet trade but are relatively uncommon. They require specific humidity and temperature levels to thrive, as well as a suitable enclosure with plenty of hiding places and climbing opportunities.
